I Aim to Misbehave...

Hey there all you Etsy Folks,

Just stopping by to write on our blog for the first time, and let you know about a little genius coming your way.
Kaitlyn was talking to me a little while ago about a new collection of t-shirts coming your way. Inspired by the current craziness in the world Kait was thinking about creating a line with anarchy in mind. Maybe she was inspired by the chaos in her own life ;) or maybe she's just feeling all the craziness in yours but presently in the works are shirts that will be created under her "Lawless" line. Which got me thinking, because there are so many different kinds of craziness and rebelliousness in the world that maybe some people would see this persuasion as a negative. So how do you put a positive spin on chaos? Lucky for me I just happened to be watching one of my favourite movies last night "Serenity", a film about space frontier cowboys trying to get by and continually running into the law, but still managing to be the "good" guys. All that to say it got me thinking that rebellion isn't always about making life hard for other people, sometimes it's about breaking out of the mold society has made you to figure out what you truly want for yourself and what really matters to you...

So look for the new line coming out, and maybe we'll convince Kait to put her slogans on some kiddy and baby stuff too. A taste of shirts to come-> One of the shirt slogans Kait forwarded to me "Chaos is Classy" <--- Love it! Also one the way---> Skooques! Don't know what that is? Well you'll just have to wait and see, you should have your first skooque to view for sale on our Etsy site before the week is up, with different colours and sizes to follow.

Spotlight: The Sea Within

This home-grown creator has a clean-cut retro style that she suffuses into her beautiful bags, purses, neck warmers and other trendy items. I can’t get enough of these materials and chic shapes!

Tip Thursday: Creating your Craft Room

First and foremost, before you begin creating your craft space - take a look at it.

Is it a small corner of the family room? Is it sharing a space with your children's toys? Is it next to a railway track?

Well I can't help you with the railway track but the rest it you really need to consider.

If you're serious about crafting, or if you run a craft business, then it's important enough to be your own space. Not only does this include sharing it with family members and pets (you'll realize how 'fluffy', Fluffy really is when her hair has dried in your paint) but also the television. I don't care how much you need to see your shows, watch them later online. T.V. is just a distraction; make the time for yourself to be in your workspace.

You might be saying you can't make room for your own hobby, but you might not need a lot. Depending on your craft, you might only need a bit of space. Sometimes a closet or just a screened off portion will work.

Also, I always recommend a window. Natural light is not only good for you but it also shows the true colours of your materials.

Lastly, paint your area something appealing to you. Try something bright. You're going to be spending time there; you want to be happy in it.

Here are a few ideas for your area:

• If you do different crafts, set your work space up into separate stations or if you run a business, separate it into: shipping, crafting, and the business section (such as filing and marketing)


• To separate your area if you are sharing a room, try using an older wooden door and put wooden feet on the bottom to make it stand on its own.


• There are many types of containers that work, but I find clear ones are the best. You can use just about anything. I like stackable craft jars. Or try using spice jars and a spice rack for something more creative.


• Tool peg boards are great for hanging up basically whatever you want. It's easy to hang the boards and you can buy many types of pegs for anything you'd like to do with it.


• If you have items that you'd like to display or equipment that you use often, buy a tiered h'ordeuvres tray. They can be found very cheap and in intricate or simple styles.


• Coat pegs make useful hangers for stray ribbon or materials. When they're not in use, they take up little space.


• If you're like me, you have lots of material hanging around. Hanging shoe organizers work well for holding it and makes it easier to find what you're looking for.


• Shelving can be made with milk crates and if thats not pretty enough for you, try stringing ribbon through the holes. Or try printed-paper covered shoe boxes. They work well for larger items you need to store.


• A typical craft room staple is a cork board, but how about sewing pockets to attach along the bottom. They can hold your pencils, scissors etc.


• I can't say this enough - Label, label, label! Label everything! It'll make you put things back where they belong, keeping your room tidier, longer.


• And last, have a soundsystem of some sort. Just because you don't have a t.v. doesn't mean you can't have music. It'll keep you grooving with what you're doing.

Welcome to the first post of Grymm Teaze and its creators!

We began our quest for Internet domination roughly one month ago when we opened our hand-painted clothing shop online. What better platform for our crafty clothing than the globally supreme site, Etsy.

So who are we? Let me introduce:

Kaitlyn - That's me! I'm the painter/shipper/salesperson. Always seeming to have my hand dabbling in something, I'm constantly starting new projects and trying new things. I've had many great opportunities, such as working at: numerous horse stables (horses are a love of mine), an amazing large-breed dog rescue and currently as a dispatcher for the local police station and fire department. I love riding, running and writing - that is, if I'm not reading.

Jayna - My beautiful older sister, who is the artist/business partner/techie behind our young shop. She's the typical older sibling that is always looked up to and her modesty is never-ending. Currently on maternity hiatus from her Registered Nursing job, she still finds time to rock climb, do yoga, swim, hike and meditate while balancing her bright-eyed baby. Now you know why I idolize her!

Rogue - Our shop's muse and mascot, my little niece. She might not know what she's started but it's only a matter of time before she's drawing like her mom and blogging herself. At five and a half months she already loves helping Jayna text.

Like I said, Rogue was the muse behind it all. When Jayna became pregnant with her, I couldn't help "window shopping" online for things to buy her. Hasty, I realize. Then I began to think about crafting things and I came across a great site for hand-painting baby clothes. I thought, I could do that! In the past I had found the finished product didn't always come out as I had hoped with my art projects (doesn't everyone find that?) but for once, it worked! Soon I was making t-shirts for friends and selfishly supplying my own closet.

Now we come to the "where do we go from here?"

This is just the beginning and we plan on building momentum by creating more unique items and adding to our crafting library. We can't stop talking about new crafts and designs. And now we can't wait to get blogging.
